Victorian Lesbians: Did They Exist? Queer Herstory

Hey folks, in this video I discuss the overlooked side of herstory: female same-sex love. Disclaimer: sexual identity categories (like lesbian or gay) are relatively new, I only use these words to relate to a present-day understanding of sexuality. Here are just a handful of some incredible women from the past who had same-sex relationships: Marcela Gracia Ibeas and Elisa Sánchez Loriga were married in Spain in 1901, Emily Dickinson, Anne Lister, Gladys Bentley, Hannah Snell, Alla Nazimova, Ruth Ellis, Vita Sackville-West, Virginia Woolf, The Ladies of Llangollen, Mary Benson, Jane Addams and Eleanor Roosevelt (the list is endless)!
